Luke Murchie is a Melbourne-based painter working in acrylic on canvas.
He studied Communication Design — a foundation in visual culture, composition, and how images carry meaning — before an unexpected turn led him to horticulture and eventually to the gardens of a museum of modern art. Years of working slowly, seasonally, and close to the ground left a lasting mark. Life looks different now — office hours, a desk — but painting has become the way back to that quieter pace: not nostalgia exactly, but a need to stay connected to something unhurried.
Made after hours in his Naarm apartment, the work follows feeling rather than plan, the same way a garden follows the season.
